My LSAT
Journey

Hello, my name is Madison Firstman. My LSAT journey started in 2019, when I took a diagnostic test and scored a 151. I put the LSAT on the back burner while I graduated from college and gained some work experience. After months of procrastinating, I started studying for the LSAT full-time in September of 2023, in preparation for the January 2024 test administration. It took me about 500 hours of studying—and plenty of blood, sweat, and tears—to break into the 170s. I ended up scoring a 167 (91 percentile) on test day. After several more months of intensive studying, I finally managed to score a 177 (99 percentile) on the June 2024 LSAT—the last test with logic games... May the little devils rest in peace.

As I am sure you've heard countless times, the LSAT is really, really hard. I "knew" that before I started studying; but at the time, I could not fully appreciate just how hard it would be to score a 170+. I studied from everything: Mike Kim's LSAT Trainer, PowerScore's Bible Trilogy, Kaplan's Bootcamp, 7Sage's Core Curriculum... I spent a lot of time—and more money than I needed to—trying to find the right resources for me. Truth be told, there was even a moment when I questioned if I was cut out for law school. Fortunately, my friends and family, as well as the community over at r/LSAT, helped me through those moments of doubt. And, perhaps even more importantly, I changed the way I engaged with the LSAT. How? I stopped studying and started PRACTICING—over and over and over again. But practice, by itself, isn't nearly enough to get a good score—you need to have an excellent command of the fundamentals and practice the right test-taking habits and strategies. In other words, you don't want to get in the habit of doing the wrong thing! But there is no one-size-fits-all approach to conquering the LSAT—what works for you might not work for the next person. So let's figure out what you need to get to the next level. Here at LSAT Goonies, I am committed to helping you kick the LSAT's butt (as opposed to the other way around). The idea is not only to provide you with tutoring and one-on-one support, but to build a network of study buddies—Goonies—to support each other on our LSAT journey. Hope to meet you soon!

About Me. For most of my life, I lived in the San Joaquin Valley, California, and in Guanajuato, Mexico. I split my time between both places. Recently, I moved out east, to Michigan—which I have affectionately nicknamed Siberia. I went skiing for the first time this past winter, and by some miracle, I survived without any broken bones (I thought I was going to die). For fun, I enjoy hiking, cycling, and traveling to new places!
